The Hospice of St Francis
The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted provides free, expert care and support when it matters for people living with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones and carers, across West Herts and South Bucks - regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic background.
The hospice’s multi-disciplinary team offers support to around 1,000 patients a year, as well as 1,000 family members, loved ones and carers. From diagnosis onwards, they help people to live well with their condition, providing 24-hour care tailored to each patient’s needs wherever they need it: in one of the 14 hospice beds, in their own home or care home, in hospital, or via the outpatient health and wellbeing facility, The Spring Centre, which offers physiotherapy, occupational and creative therapy, and psychological and spiritual support.
The Hospice of St Francis concentrates on the individual, combining the best available medical and nursing care with emotional support and care of the patient’s family and friends when it matters most.
The Hospice of St Francis needs to raise over £5million every year to fund its free care to help local people to live their precious lives well. Just 13% of its funding comes from the NHS. Your contribution as a Hospice Lottery player forms a vital part of this fundraising.
With these invaluable funds we can embrace innovation and champion new forms of support - everything from creative and complemetary therapies to palliative rehabilitation and improving patients' lives through digital technology.”
